Mission

The Department of Ophthalmology at VCU Medical Center supports both primary and tertiary eye care. Faculty advance patient care, education, and research to improve vision for all.

Position Overview

The role involves direct patient care and supervision in three outpatient settings:
Main Campus, Richmond V.A. Medical Center, and suburban ASC locations. The department supports a 16‑resident ophthalmology training program with a 5‑year ACGME accreditation.

Position Responsibilities
  • Clinical: Provide high‑quality, compassionate patient care with collaborative practice, involving trainees.
  • Teaching: Teach medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees in a clinical setting.
  • Research: Pursue research opportunities based on training, experience, and interest.
  • Other: Maintain clinical and ethical standards, promote a collaborative atmosphere, foster patient and staff satisfaction, and ensure compliance.
Qualifications
  • Board certified or board eligible in Ophthalmology, with corneal sub‑specialty training.
  • Eligibility for, or a current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in Virginia.
  • Excellent diagnostic and surgical skills.
  • Ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students.
Salary & Employment

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience.

Months: 12 months.
FLSA Exemption: Exempt.
