MissionThe mission of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department is to provide the highest quality clinical care in both specialty and sub-specialty obstetrics and gynecology to patients in central Virginia. In addition to the clinical mission, the department has the allied goals of providing undergraduate and graduate medical education in the field and advancing the specialty through basic and clinical research.

Position OverviewThe Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a qualified candidate to lead and manage the clinical, research, and educational programs for the Division of Gynecologic Oncology. The position will also provide subspecialty care in gynecologic oncology, including surgery, in‑ and outpatient consultation, chemotherapy, and in‑ and outpatient management of people with gynecologic cancers. The position will be responsible for student and resident education in gynecologic oncology.
The position also includes running the Division's research activities.
Teaching: The faculty member will have teaching responsibilities to include actively participating in the department's educational activities, with particular attention to educating students and residents in their core educational objectives in gynecologic oncology.
Research: The person filling the position will lead the Division's research program. They are expected to initiate their own projects as well as participate in and facilitate other division member's research and contribute to scholarly publications/presentations.
Service: The faculty member will serve on departmental, hospital, cancer center, and university committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field. The faculty member will be assigned to committees at the discretion of the department chair.
Clinical: Leadership and administration of and participation in the full clinical activities of the gynecologic oncology division is expected. Clinical activities include a combination of outpatient care, inpatient care, and surgery.
Other: The faculty member will be the Division Chief for Gynecologic Oncology. In this role, he or she will lead the division, with responsibilities for growth of clinical volume and implementation and maintenance of state of the science clinical programs, strategic planning, quality improvement, and fostering gynecologic oncology related communication and relations within the Department, Massey Cancer Center, VCU Health, and the community.
The division chief is responsible for the career development of faculty in their division.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of ABOG accredited fellowship training in Gynecologic Oncology or its equivalent
- Eligible for medical license in Virginia
- Potential for scholarship or creative expression to complement and expand existing expertise in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of an ACGME accredited OB/GYN residency
- Demonstrated talent and experience in teaching and commitment to research and patient care
- BC/BE by the American Board of OB/GYN in Gynecologic Oncology
- Robotics training in minimally invasive surgery is preferred
