MissionThe mission of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department is to provide the highest quality clinical care in both specialty and sub-specialty obstetrics and gynecology to patients in central Virginia. In addition to the clinical mission, the department has the allied goals of providing undergraduate and graduate medical education in the field and advancing the specialty through basic and clinical research.
The Department faculty has a responsibility to provide service to their profession and to the University Community.
Chief PurposeThe Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a Division Chief to lead and manage the clinical, research, and educational programs for the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine. The division has six Maternal Fetal Medicine subspecialists. The Division has a new ACGME approved Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship program whose first fellow started in 2024. The incumbent will have skill and experience in leadership and administration, and have a national reputation for clinical care, teaching, and research.
VCU has a growing OB population with 3,200 deliveries in 2024 and a Level 4 NICU that is expanding to 60 babies. The division practices the full scope of the subspecialty including an active in- and outpatient high risk obstetric service, including ultrasound, prenatal diagnosis, and fetal therapy.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of ACGME or ABOG accredited fellowship training in Maternal Fetal Medicine or its equivalent
- Ability to obtain an unrestricted medical license in Virginia
- Effective supervisory, leadership, and management skills
- Potential for scholarship or creative expression to complement and expand existing expertise in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
