Family Practice - OB Physician

Vivo Health Staff is recruiting for a Family Practice or Internal Medicine Physician for a locum opportunity in a primary care practice serving adult, pediatric, newborn, and geriatric populations in rural Southern Virginia.

Position Details:

Job Title: Family Practice Physician or Internal Medicine Physician Locum or Locum to Perm
Location: Rural Southern Virginia
Contract Length: Approximately 9 months or until permanent hires are made
Start Date: Beginning June 23, 2025, or soon thereafter
Schedule: 3 eight-hour shifts per week
Call Schedule: None required
Average Patients Per Day: Approximately 20
Number of Exam Rooms: 6

Practice Setting:

Hospital/Clinic Type: Primary Care Practice with rotating specialties
Patient Population: Adult, pediatric, newborn, and geriatric patients
On-site Services: Laboratory, point-of-care testing, phlebotomy
Documentation System: Epic EMR
Emergency Supplies Available: Defibrillator, airway equipment

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive primary care services to a diverse patient population

• Manage common outpatient medical conditions across all ages

• Perform procedures including suturing minor lacerations and incision and drainage (I&D)

• Conduct newborn care (>2000 grams) and general pediatric outpatient care

• Perform pelvic exams and Pap smears (helpful but not required)

• Collaborate with behavioral health providers onsite for uncomplicated adult psychiatric cases

Requirements:

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Practice

• Active Virginia medical license (or in process with expedited completion)

• Current BLS certification
