Adjunct Faculty – Department of Philosophy

Virginia Commonwealth University – College of Humanities and Sciences invites applications for adjunct teaching positions in the Department of Philosophy.

The Department of Philosophy is recruiting a pool of applicants on an ongoing basis for adjunct teaching positions. Qualified applicants will be contacted for interviews on an as‑needed basis. Adjunct instructors may teach a variety of courses, with a focus on the general education courses: PHIL 201:
Introduction to Ethics, PHIL 202:
Ethics of AI, and PHIL 221:

• Meet all designated course instruction guidelines;
• Grade assignments and exams in a timely manner;
• Respond to student inquiries within 24 hours;
• Submit final grades according to VCU policy.

• Master’s degree in Philosophy or a related field appropriate to the position.

• Ph.D. in Philosophy or a related field appropriate to the position.
• Demonstrated record of teaching experience at the university level, including online instruction.
• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

$1,437 per credit hour
