Job DescriptionThe Public Services Librarian will serve the campus community by ensuring adequate access to library services and resources. Primary functions of this position include reference, bibliographic instruction and workshops, archives management, and general assistance with all other areas of library operation. Additional responsibilities include assisting with annual statistics and assessment, supervision of a federal work study employee when applicable, and assisting with collection evaluation.
SpecialAssignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Required Qualifications- Master’s degree in library science and Virginia Professional Librarian Certification, or equivalent skills and work experience.
- Experience working in a library, providing information services to a diverse patronage.
- Experience teaching skills to others, demonstrated success working independently, with limited supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite, Google applications, and library applications.
- Bibliographic and information literacy instruction.
- Experience in higher education.
- Operation of a State Vehicle.
- No Supervises Employees.
- No Required Travel – Minimal.
