Overview
Workforce Instructors – Trades teach a variety of programming areas including welding, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, heavy equipment operations and mechatronics. Classes are offered in open enrollment settings, customized training for area businesses and corporations, and at multiple Laurel Ridge Community College locations and off‑site sites.
Responsibilities- Develop, prepare and deliver instructional materials for workforce courses in person, hybrid or online formats.
- Incorporate hands‑on laboratory activities in state‑of‑the‑art labs and provide all classroom materials, lessons, tools and supplies.
- Assess student performance, provide feedback and maintain professional standing as a national certified instructor when applicable.
- Collaborate with campus staff and lab technicians to support student success and program quality.
- Professional experience in the trade field and appropriate industry certification.
- Proven subject‑matter knowledge demonstrated by training, experience, and/or credentials.
- Non‑credit courses require substantial experience in the field of expertise.
- Strong communication, classroom management and student‑engagement skills.
- Part‑time, contract courses with compensation up to $3,500 per selected program.
- Opportunity to become a national certified instructor.
- No previous teaching experience required – on‑the‑job training provided to develop instructional skill.
- Full support from campus staff, lab tech assistant and comprehensive training in new technologies.
