Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts (VCUarts) Department of Dance + Choreography is recruiting a pool of applicants on an ongoing basis for possible adjunct teaching positions. The Department of Dance + Choreography will consult the adjunct applicant pool and contact qualified applicants whose credentials match our specific teaching needs on an as‑needed basis. This pool will only be assessed when an adjunct opportunity arises.

Possible adjunct opportunities could include teaching a course(s) in any of the areas of study offered by the Department of Dance + Choreography. A link to course descriptions from VCU's Undergraduate Bulletin can be found at (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and  If an opportunity becomes available, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Adjunct faculty are expected to be enthusiastic ambassadors for the Department of Dance + Choreography and have a desire to work with a student population from all backgrounds and experiences in a collaborative and learning‑centered community of other adjunct instructors, students, faculty and staff.

Required Qualifications
  • Appropriate teaching experience and/or strong oral presentation and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in one or more areas of expertise in Ballet, Modern, Hip Hop, Ballroom, Yoga, Screen Dance, Composition, Choreography and other relevant areas.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Dance, Choreography, or a related field, or BFA with equivalent professional experience and training that equates to a terminal degree in the field.
  • Willingness to teach in both in‑person and online formats.
  • Willingness to recruit as needed, assist with semesterly assessments, and help support the Dance and Choreography department's vision and student growth.
