Position Overview
Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Adjunct History Instructor (part‑time)
ResponsibilitiesThe College seeks qualified applicants to teach history courses as adjunct faculty. Adjunct History faculty are responsible for providing high‑quality instruction that supports student learning and success, aligns with approved curricula and learning outcomes, and meets Reynolds and VCCS instructional standards. Courses may be offered in face‑to‑face, hybrid, or online formats. Adjunct faculty report to the appropriate associate dean and are expected to uphold professional standards in teaching and institutional responsibility.
SpecialAssignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Qualifications- Master’s degree in history or related field; or Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in history.
- Community college teaching experience.
- Experience with online teaching, including online synchronous classes.
- Availability to teach on‑campus classes.
- Experience with Canvas and Zoom.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to place a strong emphasis on student‑centered learning and provide an innovative e‑learning experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
Varies depending on class schedules and school needs. Telework options are subject to change based on business needs.
