To provide instruction in English to adult learners in a class setting, ensuring that instruction meets state and federal standards and aligns with PVCC’s instructional program. The instructor will create engaging lessons, manage learning time, and maintain accurate records for a supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities- Plan, organize, and deliver instruction in English that meets state and federal standards.
- Provide instruction that is consistent and coordinated with TJACE@PVCC’s instructional program.
- Develop and deliver lessons utilizing a broad range of teaching techniques and strategies that meet the needs and goals of students.
- Address all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
- Maintain complete and accurate records.
- Provide a supportive learning environment that encourages student responsibility and incorporates challenging instructional strategies/content.
- Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement.
- Participate in the program’s Professional Learning Community and staff meetings.
- Remain on site during instructional periods (classes are held in person).
- Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline.
- ESL teaching experience (minimum of X years, not specified).
- Outstanding personal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and accurate record keeping.
- Ability to incorporate current technology into the classroom environment.
- Ability to work with a diverse range of individuals and groups.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills to analyze issues and create action plans.
- Adaptability to changing work priorities.
- Ability to establish and maintain constructive relationships.
Relevant graduate degree or ESL certificate, and experience working with adults, are desirable.
