Hours and days: Vary based on course offerings and enrollment. Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on an as needed, course-by-course, semester basis.
OverviewVirginia Western Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under the Virginia Community College System. The College operates under policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Virginia Western Community College Local Advisory Board. The College was established in 1966 and currently enrolls over 9,000 students in credit courses and more than 1,400 enrollments in fast-track workforce and continuing education courses.
ResponsibilitiesElectrical Wiring adjunct faculty are needed to teach college-level courses in-person on the main Virginia Western campus, as well as hybrid or distance learning/online courses. Courses include Home Electric Power, Practical Electricity I-II, and National Electric Code. Faculty are expected to maintain currency in their teaching disciplines and in trends in community college education. In addition, faculty are expected to be active participants in departmental communication.
Special Assignments:
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
- May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five years of occupational experience in the electrical occupational field.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams; ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum and assessments; ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
- Master electrician license.
- Operation of a State Vehicle.
- No Supervises Employees.
- No Required Travel.
