POSITION OVERVIEWThe Lower School After Care Teacher for Early Learners is responsible for creating a flexible program and environment designed to cultivate each student’s love of learning and personal growth. This teacher is expected to establish effective rapport with students, as well as establish and maintain positive relationships with parents and other faculty/staff members. Collaborating effectively with other faculty/staff members and supporting the school’s mission and core values are essential.
The Lower School After Care Teacher for Early Learners is expected to remain current in best practices in education, particularly with girls’ education.

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A
Position Status: Hourly, non-exempt, part-time, regular, 9‑month
Hours of Work: Up to twenty (20) hours per work week.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES- Collaborating with and assisting the lead teacher in set up and maintenance of the classroom
- Supporting the flow of the day (including supervision during carpool, recess and lunch) and facilitating children’s learning as established by the lead teacher
- Collaborating and planning with the lead teacher for learning experiences both indoors and outdoors
- Assisting with and leading small groups and team teaching
- Sharing observations that will help the lead teacher with student evaluations
- Working collaboratively with other faculty/staff members/support personnel (e.g., specials teachers, therapists, counselors, etc.)
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with families
- Using protocols in alignment with the lead teacher with regard to student behavior and growth
- Developing personal and professional short and long term goals in partnership with the Director of Lower School
- Participating in professional development programs as required by the School
- Attending after school activities and events as required
- Participating in regular grade level meetings, lower school faculty meetings, all school faculty meetings and faculty committees and mentoring student activities as required
- Bachelor’s degree in related field from accredited university, or equivalent experience in a related field
- Experience is preferred but not necessary for hiring
- Ability to integrate technology into the classroom (e.g., Seesaw, Zoom, Microsoft Office, SMART Board, etc.) is preferred but not required
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to become CPR and First Aid Certified.
Travel is not a requirement for this role.
