Industrial Safety Instructor Workforce Solutions; Part-Time

Overview

Virginia Western Community College is accepting applications for part-time Industrial Safety Instructor in the Workforce Solutions department. The Instructor will perform a variety of technical instructional assignments and classroom preparation requiring in-depth knowledge of OSHA 10, OSHA 30, and a bridge between the two credentials. This position will also assist in all other instructor related duties to support the program and the Workforce Solutions department.

Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on an as needed, course-by-course, semester basis.

• Deliver instructional content related to OSHA 10 and OSHA 30, and facilitate a bridge between the two credentials.
• Prepare and conduct classes, develop syllabi, exams, and learning strategies aligned with course objectives.
• Support the Workforce Solutions department and assist with instructor duties as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned; may assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

• Must possess current OSHA Authorized Construction and/or General Industry Outreach Trainer Card.
• Must have three years of Construction and/or General Industry safety-related experience and five years of teaching/conducting OSHA Outreach Training Program classes (10 and 30-hour).
• All Adjunct Faculty positions require excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams; ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum and assessments; and ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
• Associate’s degree in a Career and Technical Education field preferred. Demonstrated track record of high level student credential and institutional outcomes with the ability to deliver instruction in classroom and lab environments.
