Information System Technology Adjunct Faculty (Part-Time)
Virginia Western Community College is seeking part-time Information Systems Technology (IST) Adjunct Faculty in the School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Adjunct faculty are appointed on a course-by-course, semester basis as needed and may teach college-level IST courses in-person on the main campus or in hybrid/online formats. Faculty are expected to maintain currency in their teaching discipline and in trends in community college education, and to participate as active members of departmental communication.
Applications are reviewed on a continuous basis and will be considered as adjunct needs arise until filled.
- Teach college-level Information Systems Technology courses in-person, hybrid, or online as assigned.
- Maintain currency in IST topics and trends in community college education.
- Develop syllabi, exams, learning strategies, curricula, and assessments; work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
- Participate in departmental communication and collaborate with colleagues as needed.
- May perform other duties as assigned and assist agency or state government as required during emergencies.
- Two years of related occupational experience.
- Educational requirements vary by course:
You must have either
Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Information Systems Technology (IST), Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field for transfer courses; or a Bachelor’s degree in IST, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field for other IST courses. - Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams; ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments; ability to work with diverse student populations.
- Additional considerations: teaching in a college setting; experience with technology in the classroom and online; current occupational experience and certifications in the topic of interest.
