Position SummarySt. Christopher’s School seeks a creative and flexible teacher for its Extended Day Program, a unique after‑school opportunity for students to explore enriching academic, artistic, and athletic experiences. Serving approximately 1,000 boys in Grades JK‑12, St. Christopher’s is an Episcopal school committed to cultivating a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming community. - Chaperone buses that transport St. Catherine’s students to the St. Christopher’s campus.
- Supervise students walking to the building from playgrounds or gyms.
- Support Extended Day teachers with monitoring, including walkie‑talkie communications, recess on playgrounds and in gyms, and student behavior.
- Facilitate carpool and pick‑up duty, co‑curricular lessons that foster student growth, enrichment opportunities (arts, crafts, indoor/outdoor games, cooking, STEM), study halls, academic support, and time‑management skills.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Extended Day team members and Lower School and Middle School teachers.
- Attend staff meetings and professional development training.
- A commitment to best practices in education, as articulated in the School’s Teaching Excellence Document, and a dedication to best practices for boys, as espoused by the St. Christopher’s Center for the Study of Boys.
- A clear commitment to diversity, community, and inclusion in school communities, as expressed in the St. Christopher’s Diversity and Inclusion Statement.
- A bachelor's degree or an associate degree with experience in education preferred.
- A minimum of three years experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Personal communication style that fosters relationship building with students and colleagues and nurtures the growth of children.
- Works cooperatively with adults and has a strong ability to multitask.
- Creative and flexible mindset and a solid work ethic.
- Passion and joy for working with young people and an enthusiasm for learning.
- Comfort with using technology daily and a willingness to learn and navigate specific platforms.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods of time.
- Often required to work in poor weather conditions such as temperature, precipitation, and wind during recess and carpool duty.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
