Adjunct Faculty - School of Health and Safety
Mountain Empire Community College invites applications for adjunct faculty in the School of Health and Safety. Positions are available for a range of disciplines including EMS, CNA, American Sign Language, phlebotomy, health information management, criminal justice, corrections, and CPR. Adjuncts will teach in on‑campus, online, and nursing clinical settings, and may be scheduled for daytime, evenings, or weekends as needed.
Responsibilities- Plan, develop, and deliver high‑quality instruction in classroom, virtual, and clinical environments.
- Foster an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse academic backgrounds.
- Develop course materials, assessments, and provide constructive feedback to support student learning.
- Contribute to the academic, professional, and community life of the college, including committee participation and program development.
- Maintain continuous professional growth aligned with the college’s mission and goals.
- May be required to perform other duties and assist during emergency declarations as assigned.
May be required to assist the agency or state government in an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- In‑depth knowledge of the specific discipline or subject area relevant to the teaching assignment.
- Familiarity with diverse teaching strategies, instructional technologies, and assessment techniques.
- Understanding of higher education standards, accreditation requirements, and institutional policies.
- Awareness of diverse student backgrounds and strategies to promote an inclusive classroom environment.
- Knowledge of college procedures, governance, and administrative requirements.
- Ability to clearly convey complex concepts verbally and in writing.
- Skills in developing engaging, well‑organized, and accessible course materials and activities.
- Proficiency in designing assessments that accurately measure student learning and providing constructive feedback.
- Competence with learning management systems (LMS), multimedia tools, and other educational technologies.
- Ability to motivate students, foster critical thinking, and create a positive learning environment.
- Flexibility to modify teaching approaches based on student needs, feedback, and evolving educational practices.
- Upholding the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and respect in all interactions.
- Bachelor’s degree in the teaching field or Associate’s degree in the teaching field with demonstrated competency in teaching.
- Minimum of two years of related occupational experience.
- Teaching experience in college‑level courses is an additional consideration.
- State vehicle operation required.
- No supervisory responsibilities.
- Minimum travel required.
