Transfer Advisor (Education Support Spec III) – Central Virginia Community College
Position Number:
Location: Lynchburg, VA
Pay Range: $59,000 – $62,000 (Emergency/Essential Personnel)
Employment Type: Full Time (No telework options currently)
Responsibilities• Provide enrollment and advisement services to improve student success as part of the academic advising department.
• Secure comprehensive knowledge of CVCC policies, practices, course offerings, and services; advise and enroll students.
• Monitor students’ academic progress and manage a caseload of advisees.
• Work closely with academic divisions, faculty, and other student services personnel to respond to student needs.
• Intervene in matters relative to curriculum determinations and changes.
• Keep abreast of changes in transfer information and maintain the college’s transfer website, updating links as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned; may assist during emergency declarations by the Governor.
Qualifications- Education, training, and experience in a higher education setting.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office.
- Experience providing services to a diverse population.
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks in a stressful environment.
- Experience advising students in a higher education setting.
- Master’s degree preferred; experience with People Soft or similar student information system.
