. This position supports the Global Facilities Delivery (GFD) Organization within Corporate Engineering and Continuous Improvement, delivering new and renovated capital assets worldwide. The Design Verification Lead (DVL) leads design oversight for capital projects focused on medical innovation, supply chain robustness, and expansion of existing medicines.
- Lead the identification of applicable Engineering Design Standards, Engineering Functional Standards, Engineering Specifications and Regulatory requirements and guidance (both internal and external).
- Be responsible for the overall design delivery for capital project(s).
- Coordinate all design for the Project Manager during all design phases and ensure delivery of the conceptual design review and basic design review.
- Direct the development of design requirements and assist in developing and maintaining the design schedule.
- Participate in the selection of A/E firms and coordinate with them to develop earned value progress systems to measure progress by discipline.
- Expedite design decisions and coordinate information flow between the design team and system owners.
- Ensure designs meet approved intent through interactions between the design firm, design specialists, Engineering Tech Center disciplines, and end user/customer.
- Resolve design-related problems and enforce design governance.
- Analyze inefficiencies and develop strategies for improvement to meet or improve design hours plan.
- Assist in developing SOPs, project delivery work instructions, and best practices related to design/verification.
- Review and approve key design project personnel with the Project Manager.
- Work with Engineering Tech Center resources to address and resolve design issues.
- Support replication in design when applicable.
- Assist the Project Manager with value engineering exercises.
- Review design-related invoices and participate in KPI reviews/assessments.
- Select verification professional services and develop the Project Verification Plan, Traceability Matrix, and risk assessments.
- Coordinate verification for the Project Manager during verification phase and manage discrepancy tracking.
- BS in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years manufacturing and/or engineering experience supporting pharmaceutical or API networks.
- Pharmaceutical process or project engineer experience.
- Strong project management skills.
- Effective facilitation of conflict resolution and influencing across all levels of the project.
- Understanding of capital project delivery process, A/E design activities, and Lilly technical resources.
- Alignment with Lilly values.
- Ability to frame complex decisions, facilitate decision making, and implement plans.
- Experience in issue resolution, scope change anticipation, and safe, quality, speed, and value delivery.
- Willingness to relocate and/or travel to locations outside home state/country; ability to work independently from long distances.
- Travel can be domestic and international, averaging about 25%, depending on project phase.
- Potential co‑location at the A/E firm or job site to support C&Q activities for periods of time based on project needs.
Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is $64,500 - $167,200 per year.
