To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Test Technician 2 located in Henrico, VA.
Reporting to the Operations Engineering Manager, the Test Technician 2 role will support the continued testing and troubleshooting of Power Distribution Equipment and related components with elevated technical experience and know-how. Working more directly with Team Leads, other senior Technicians, and Departments, this role will continue to build on the core Testing principles of AMUS.
Shift3:00pm – 11:30pm, Monday through Friday
What a typical day looks like- Maintains and accurately performs all test processes within the area of responsibility.
- Periodically reviews job specifications to determine if they accurately reflect the process requirements and test techniques being used.
- Ensures that test processes are within all safety specifications.
- Assists with the development of new equipment, fixtures, and test programs (where applicable).
- Ensures that effective preventive maintenance is performed regularly on all used Test equipment.
- Drives recovery actions/repair of any test process that is down. Coordinates recovery/repair activities with the Test Manager, whose area of expertise is necessary to get the process back in working order.
- Follows proven and developed Testing processes from the Test Manager.
- Ability to perform low-level repair, anticipate unit configuration, and connect cabling to units in Test Bays.
- Configures/flashes firmware on Sub‑assemblies and connects Ethernet connections between unit(s).
- Troubleshoots/debugs at multiple system levels. Ability to determine workmanship errors and drive back through Quality.
- Performs PCB/module verification.
- Be able to troubleshoot wiring of units using schematic diagrams and assembly processes.
- Log and fail defects of units and parts that are defective and address trending failures.
- Report on defective materials or questionable conditions to the Test Department Manager.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment within all Test areas.
- All other duties as assigned.
- This position will train under & report to the Test Department Manager during 1st Shift hours.
- Minimum associate’s degree with 2 to 4 years practical work experience testing Low Voltage, and/or 3 Phase distribution systems;
Military Technical Training or equivalent experience and training in a related field preferred. - Must have a demonstrated understanding of the science behind test methods and be able to communicate intent and analysis of results competently.
- Must have a developed ability to pre‑emptively identify and resolve common problem areas within product designs, test methods, test plans, and laboratory processes.
- Must work closely with cross‑functional teams to perform design validation and verification testing under a moderate level of direct supervision.
- Experience with L/V Switchgear, Power Distribution Units, Static Switches. Data Center and/or equivalent mission‑critical systems experience preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of safety protocols & electrical codes such as NFPA 70E, NEC Code, UL & IEC.
- Knowledge and understanding of 3‑Phase Power, DC Power, Electrical Power Generation, and AC/DC power distribution.
- Understanding of the hazardous nature of the department, and the ability to recognize dangerous conditions before any testing action is performed.
- Knowledge and understanding of troubleshooting at the circuit & component level.
