The PositionThis role supports areas of field Service operation within Sungrow USA related to commissioning, warranty, and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of the expanding installed sites in the region.
Duties And Responsibilities- Perform a variety of technical assignments involving the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of string and central solar inverter and/or BESS Systems, PCS, batteries, and ancillary equipment.
- Perform general troubleshooting and diagnosis under Sungrow’s maintenance and repair guidelines.
- Support and perform pre-commissioning (with and without grid emulator) and commissioning of solar inverters and BESS systems within schedule and work plans
- Perform Preventive Maintenance and other Long Term Service Agreement (LTSA) activities per the contract
- Investigate solar plant issues such as DC array grid faults, inverter design issues, and utility grid transients.
- Provide feedback to the engineering and project team on possible mechanical and electrical design improvements.
- Lead upgrade/rework projects (software and hardware) in the field and interact with customers to explain the project's technical scope and manage work schedule and commitments.
- Work with customer SCADA engineers to set up systems communication and parameters involving Sungrow’s controllers and F&G systems as needed.
- Accurately describe troubleshooting sequences and procedures which they have observed
- Identify and document basic mechanical and electrical issues and problems
- Perform basic corrective maintenance
- Create/modify Field Service procedures for safety troubleshooting and maintenance if required.
- Prepare and submit own Daily Activity Reports and Daily JSA Reports.
- Work independently in the field and with Design Engineers to resolve high-level technical issues, support the investigation of the root cause for technology applications for complex projects
- Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistic, financial, and program management disciplines to maintain the solar plant operations.
- Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
- Follow level-appropriate standard operating procedures.
- Own creation and submission of all field paperwork and documentation for full compliance with site documentation and project requirement
- Serve as a safety second if needed.
- Associate’s Degree in an Engineering or Computer Science Discipline from an accredited university or college
- Renewable industry experience is desired
- Power Electronics experience is desired
- OSHA 10 certificate within 12 months of date of hire
- NFPA 70e certificate within 12 months of date of hire
- Strong demonstration of workplace safety practices
- Understands and follows a Safety Plan
- Comprehend Job Hazard Analysis and conduct level-appropriate Job Hazard Analysis
- Designated as Authorized Person for LOTO
- Compliant with environmental safety requirements
- Can utilize and inspect appropriate safety and fall protection equipment
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point
- Motivated self-starter with complex problem-solving abilities.
- A ‘completer-finisher’ taking accountability for ideas from inception to delivery in an environment that requires robust metrics to confirm the success.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of partners, senior managers, and subject matter experts.
- 3 plus years of overall experience in a technical field
- 2 years of experience in solar inverters or BESS
- Must possess the ability to work with test equipment and hand tools as required.
- Must be able to closely follow instructions and pre-established procedures/SOP to perform the duties of the job
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- OSHA, NFPA
70A, Electrical Safety - Experience and/or certification with MV transformers a plus
- 80% Plus
- Contract-to-Hire, VA, NC or SC area
- No visa/legal sponsorship
