Job Summary

The Construction Estimator at Mas Tec in Richmond, VA is responsible for assisting with the administrative function of current projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare material and subcontractor take‑offs for bid projects. This position supports Project teams and works with vendors as well as personnel from other departments.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate take‑of materials, subcontracting, and production items for projects.
  • Acquire plans for projects.
  • Bid accurately using Bid2

    Win software.
  • Prepare and deliver bids.
  • Prepare subcontracts and purchase orders for projects.
  • Assist operations in administrative duties on projects.
  • Furnish bid information for tracking purposes, follow bid process, and work on improving bid process.
  • Prepare job files for operations.
  • Keep job log up‑to‑date.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience and proficiency with Bid2

    Win software.
  • Knowledge of methods and specifications in the utility construction field.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, business management skills, and general knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred
  • Previous utility construction project estimator experience.
  • Ability to use Bid2

    Win software efficiently and proficiently.
