Job Summary

CMTA, a Legence company, is seeking an entry‑level Mechanical Engineer in our Richmond, VA office. This position will work with a team of engineers to design energy‑efficient buildings for various clients for CMTA. The successful candidate is a self‑motivated individual that thrives on helping clients and has the technical background to be involved in and lead all phases of our work.

The entry‑level engineer works closely with the project manager to assist and support them. Below are some of the duties this position includes.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, read, and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications
  • Interact with owners, clients, architects, and contractors as needed with verbal and written communication
  • Evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks
  • Confer with other engineers and other personnel to complete project deadlines
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles and research, design, and evaluate products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet project requirements
  • Design and specify system components to ensure conformance with project goals and requirements
  • Produce high level contract documents using Revit
  • Review contractor submittals (shop drawings, etc) to determine conformance with contract documents
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field
  • Experience with a consulting engineering firm is preferred
Desired Skills
  • Construction or engineering experience preferred
  • Experience with Revit / Computer Drafting
  • FE Registration with potential for PE
