ResponsibilitiesSprinkler Technician 3 demonstrates a high level of expertise and leadership in inspecting, testing, and servicing fire sprinkler systems and is responsible for leading complex projects, providing mentorship to junior technicians, and ensuring the optimal performance and safety of sprinkler systems.
- Lead and oversee comprehensive inspection, advanced testing, and in‑depth troubleshooting of various sprinkler and preauction systems and their components.
- Perform inspections and testing of fire alarm, special hazard systems, kitchen hoods and preauction systems.
- Independently diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in sprinkler systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Manage and maintain detailed records of service activities, including detailed reports, system analyses, and recommendations for improvements.
- Supervise and mentor junior technicians, providing guidance, training, and support in executing service tasks.
- Participate in project planning, system design, and implementation efforts to enhance sprinkler systems functionality.
- Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver seamless service, address system deficiencies, and optimize performance.
- Stay informed about industry trends, technology advancements, and regulatory changes to uphold compliance and industry standards.
- Demonstrate a commitment to safety, quality service delivery, and customer satisfaction in all service activities.
- Conduct site survey for sprinkler systems upgrade and bring systems up to code, develop corresponding bill of materials, labor projection and schedule.
- Create redline drawings for as‑built preparation.
- Lead sprinkler projects of various sized and complexity.
- Plan, lead and perform five years internal sprinkler inspection and testing.
- Troubleshoot complex fire suppression and sprinkler issues.
- Perform pre‑testing and final acceptance testing with Fire Marshal for assigned projects.
- Develop and maintain relationships with building owners, building managers, and other customer representatives.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, work orders, schematics, blueprints, and specifications.
- Maintain truck inventory.
- Be on rotation to respond to after hours service calls as scheduled by supervisor.
- Pursue and maintain industry certifications, as well as grow technical and customer service skills with active support from MCDean.
- Conduct sprinkler system survey to identify system condition, compliance with various NFPA codes and other applicable codes and regulations, analyze coverage, functionality, provide assessment and recommendation for system performance improvement and life prolongation.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes and standards.
- Perform online research, installation manuals, manufacture manuals to determine materials requirements and installation procedures.
Education:
- High School Diploma (required)
- 8 years of relevant experience or 2 years technology degree and 6 years of relevant experience.
Certifications:
- NICET II in Inspection and Testing of Water‑Based Systems or
- Pass NICET II in Inspection and Testing of Water‑Based Systems exam within 90 days of employment.
- NICET III preferred.
- NICET IV preferred.
