Summary of JobThe Mechanical Engineer will contribute to the specification, design, analysis, and testing of complex electromechanical and electrohydraulic systems.
Key Accountabilities- Design and development of electromechanical systems from customer requirements elicitation through to manufacture.
- Perform analysis of components and systems to ensure product compliance with specifications.
- Participate in commissioning and testing of products.
- Develop, execute, and document test plans for developmental and production products.
- Write technical documents in support of product design and research and development activities.
- Support the sales team in business development activities, including liaising with customers, preparing tender documents, supporting training, and other customer and internal events.
- Minimum:
Degree in Mechanical / Mechatronics / Aerospace or similar engineering discipline. - Preferred:
Master’s in Mechanical / Mechatronics / Aerospace or similar engineering discipline.
Required:
- Experience in producing technical documentation including work instructions, manuals, technical reports, and drawings.
Advantageous:
- 5+ years experience in a relevant role.
- Defense and manufacturing related experience.
- Experience in analytical tools such as FEA, ANSYS.
- Experience in electronics packaging, knowledge of MIL‑STD‑461.
- Experience in modelling/coding using MATLAB/Simulink/Python, etc.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with customers, key stakeholders, and peers.
- Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI).
- Proven ability in CAD, Preferentially NX and Solid Works is preferred.
- Basic understanding of drawing structure and component/assembly tolerance analysis.
- Basic operating knowledge of core mechanical design components including but not limited to gear reductions, mechanisms and component tolerance analysis.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical and problem‑solving abilities relating to mechanical design.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of control theory and its implementation.
- Core knowledge in stress analysis in defence applications with exposure to MIL‑STD‑810.
- Must be an Australian Citizen and can obtain and maintain an Australian security clearance.
- Must satisfy police checks and employment screening verification including employment reference checks.
- Must be able to access information controlled under the US International Traffic of Arms Regulation (ITAR) which in some circumstances can place limitations on persons who hold dual nationality, permanent residency or are former nationals of certain countries as per ITAR 126.1.
