Construction Materials Technician or Senior Technician role at Legacy Engineering, P.C. is a small, woman-owned civil engineering firm headquartered in Fredericksburg, Virginia, specializing in land development design, geotechnical services, construction materials testing and inspections, and surveying and consulting.
As a Construction Material Technician, you will travel to various construction sites to perform basic soil and concrete tests under the direction of project managers and other engineering professionals to verify that the contractor's work meets project specifications. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record are required.
Job Responsibilities- Carry out testing of soil, asphalt, and concrete
- Prepare detailed written reports and accurate test results based on field observations
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and project managers regarding jobsite issues or concerns
- Safely use and maintain testing equipment
- A High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- Previous construction or field‑testing experience (preferred)
- Ability to multi‑task and work independently as well as part of a team
- Skill to read and interpret plans, specifications, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports within set deadlines
- Capability to work in all outdoor climates and over varied terrain
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality while adhering to safety requirements
- Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Physical ability to lift and/or move 50+ pounds
- Proficiency in company‑provided equipment and MS Office programs
