Position OverviewWe are an innovative team of engineers and designers that support a diverse set of projects in the power market. As a Mechanical Designer with us, you will develop detailed piping and mechanical equipment and systems designs, layouts, and 3D models for power generating plants, carbon capture plants, and related facilities. You may be involved in designing steam cycle, boiler feed, condensate, water treatment, fuel handling, hydraulic, heat transfer, conveying, rotating equipment, or air and gas systems.
Responsibilities- Draft sketches, P&IDs, plans, sections, details, drawings, equipment layout, and design/model in 3D for power plant systems, including checking interferences and constructability.
- Check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.
- Adhere to schedules and work assignments to ensure successful project completion.
- Coordinate with other drafters, designers, and team members, supporting work progress and results.
- Train and advise interns or new graduates.
- Lead design initiatives with minimal supervision.
- Seek feedback and use it effectively; work efficiently as an individual contributor and team member.
- Identify scope changes and produce design changes to stay within budget and schedule.
- Take initiative to meet or exceed quality and expected outcome requirements of internal and external customers.
- Complete miscellaneous tasks to support project development.
- Participate in project meetings as required.
- At least 3 years’ experience in design/drafting with a background in piping and/or mechanical equipment and systems design in a 3D modeling environment. Power generation experience preferred.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in drafting/design or engineering preferred; minimum high school or GED diploma.
- Experience utilizing 3D programs such as Micro Station, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Smart
Plant3D, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Autodesk, Open Plant, or similar, and knowledge of latest OS and office software. Able to check interferences and constructability. - Experience conceptualizing designs/models in a 2D/3D environment and designing similar mechanical systems and equipment. Power market experience highly desired but candidates with strong mechanical design skills in other industrial processing markets, or Oil and Gas/Chemical plants, are also considered.

This position can be based in any of the following office locations:
Lenexa, KS;
Lone Tree, CO;
Houston, TX;
Raleigh, NC;
Phoenix/Tempe, AZ;
New York City, NY; or Woodcliff Lake, NJ. For roles in Chattanooga, TN;
Detroit, MI; or Richmond, VA, the position will start remotely and transition to a hybrid arrangement once the new office is established.
$73,000/yr - $76,000/yr (actual compensation is subject to variation due to education, experience, skill set, and/or location).
