The Service Shop Engineer position in the Steam Turbine Engineering organization is responsible for providing focused support to our global Service Shop partners.

We work with an unwavering sense of urgency, quality, and innovation. Our team serves as the bridge between the Service Shops, Commercial Team, and the design engineering groups – we maintain high technical rigor to ensure quality of the product is not compromised as we support the Service Shops and our customers. The selected candidate will drive customer fulfillment excellence, by supporting component servicing quotations, planning, execution, and providing recommended repair solutions upon discovery of non-conformances.

This role, in addition to closely collaborating with our internal & external customers, is critical in driving a team culture of technical and manufacturing domain depth, contemporary leadership, on time quality execution and strong customer-focused mindset.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

In this role, the individual shall provide focused, streamlined, and consistent support onsite at a GE Vernova Service Shop. The Service Shop Engineer will support servicing of customer components shipped to GE Vernova Service Shops supporting unit major inspections.

Specific Activities include:

  • Quotation, planning, and customer liaison
  • Perform unit record reviews and provide servicing recommendations
  • Create inspection and test plans
  • Prepare drawing & bill of material packages to the service shop
  • Provide recommendations for repair and disposition of non-conformance discoveries
  • Document as-left hardware condition

In addition, the selected candidate is expected to:

  • Conceive innovative ideas to solve steam turbine servicing problems.
  • Provide timely response to service shop ER cases.
  • Execute standard work and implement templates for common servicing activities of specific components/assemblies.
  • Identify creative ways to create and improve our processes, design methods, and servicing methods.
  • Leverage design documentation to support dispositions of hardware deviations, material substitutions, and drawing revisions to support improved servicing.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with service shop teams.
  • Keep abreast of new servicing technologies, products, and emerging fleet services needs and issues.
  • Implement drawing modifications/update to document as-shipped condition.

Basic

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college and 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated capability in collaborating in a cross functional global organization.

Desired

Experience:

  • Experience in design, manufacturing, or servicing of steam turbine hardware or similar rotating machinery.
  • 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret engineering drawings & BoMs.
  • Strong organizational & communication skills.
  • Humble, open-minded, self-motivated, and a continuous learner.
  • Ability to rapidly shift day to day priorities based on emerging business needs.
