Mainframe Storage Engineer
Location: Richmond, Virginia Hybrid (3 days onsite)
Job Type: Contract on W2 (Full‑time)
Seniority Level: Mid‑Senior level
Job Function: Information Technology
Responsibilities- Perform day‑to‑day storage operations for mainframe disk and tape systems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Hitachi Disk Storage (DASD) – IBM 3390, Hitachi disk arrays – and IBM Virtual Tape Systems (VTS).
- Review, refine, and produce technical documentation, ensuring precision and procedural accuracy.
- Build new documentation as needed and support documentation lifecycle processes.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives for storage operations.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mainframe storage, including disk and/or tape.
- Proficiency with Hitachi Disk Storage and/or IBM Virtual Tape Systems.
- Strong technical writing background – experience drafting and reviewing technical documents.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate within a hybrid onsite/remote environment.
- Understanding of storage best practices and mainframe integration.
