Critical Power Field Technician (UPS Engineer)

LocationRichmond, Virginia and surrounding areas
Core Responsibilities- Install electrical equipment such as small rack‑mounted UPS equipment, various‑sized batteries, and UPS/Battery monitoring equipment.
- Maintain battery cabinets and racks, bypass, monitoring equipment, DC systems and other electrical equipment.
- Perform periodic and lifecycle‑driven remediation services, including failure analysis, troubleshooting, component replacements, repairs, and battery string installations.
- Build customer relationships by providing excellent customer service and upselling products.
- Resolve field troubleshooting calls from customers to a satisfactory resolution.
- Respond quickly to critical situations.
- Teach and mentor crew members on proper site work, troubleshooting, repair techniques, and site data analysis.
- Isolate basic hardware, software, and interface malfunctions using multiple test equipment on various products and technologies.
- Perform duties that may evolve based on business and client needs.
- Prior military training in electronics or avionics (A School, AIT, etc.) preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years in a third‑party critical power field service or technical support role, with a demonstrated progression in technical proficiency.
- OR minimum of five (5) years in an OEM service environment in the critical power space.
- Good understanding of AC/DC electrical principles.
- Knowledge of test equipment operation such as multimeters and battery testing tools.
- Ability to read and interpret electronics schematics and troubleshoot failures to the component level.
- Experience enforcing compliance with FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations and standards.
- Outstanding work ethic, punctuality, trustworthiness, and reliability – expected of a senior UPS/Critical Power Engineer.
- Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions in fast‑paced changing priorities.
- Must comply with OSHA and applicable DOT Standards.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and successful pre‑employment drug screen.
- Ability to lift or move up to 100 pounds for short durations.
- Ability to kneel or crouch periodically.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to travel for multiple days with Per Diem as projects require.
- Capacity to coordinate multiple tasks while maintaining 100% safety awareness.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and stretch above head.

Base Pay Range: $35 USD - $45 USD
