Our Electrical and Construction business unit is currently seeking a Deputy Project Leader/Manager. This role may support projects such as amusement park roller coasters, rocket launching facilities, electric vehicle manufacturing plants, semiconductor fabs, and light rail transit systems. The Assistant Project Leader/Manager will oversee the entire project lifecycle from initiation to closeout, contribute during bidding and implementation phases, and be adept at problem-solving through ingenuity and creativity.

The Deputy Project Leader/Manager will be responsible for:

  • Managing small electrical construction projects or segments of larger projects, including administration, organization, and implementation.
  • Overseeing one or more project phases, including proposal, design, solutioning, installation, and closeout.
  • Preparing project documentation such as requirements, manpower plans, layouts, schedules, equipment plans, and supporting field operations.
  • Leading or assisting with project kick-off meetings.
  • Developing a Work Breakdown Structure with properly assigned work packages and resources to establish a baseline resource plan.
  • Scheduling resources to maintain the project baseline schedule.
  • Creating and analyzing baseline vs. actual resource reports.
  • Conducting site surveys, cost studies, and preparing forecasts and progress reports.
  • Monitoring progress of both self-perform and contractor work.
  • Ensuring project scope and performance align with plans, within acceptable variances.
  • Developing and maintaining project artifacts, including shop drawings and staffing plans.
  • Assisting with major material procurement and monitoring tools and equipment needs.
  • Facilitating permit and license acquisition, inspections, and compliance.
  • Collaborating with estimators, engineers, and schedulers to address work procedures and construction issues.
  • Reviewing project schedules with stakeholders.
  • Integrating data from multiple systems to analyze project progress.
  • Ensuring timely completion of punch-list items, as-built drawings, manuals, and training materials.
  • Identifying opportunities for cost savings, quality improvements, and best practices.
  • Adhering to safety regulations and addressing safety issues.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with project leadership to achieve milestones and success.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Minimum 5 years of electrical construction experience.
  • Experience with project management and scheduling tools (MS Project or Primavera P6).
  • Skills in creating project schedules and resource planning.
  • Ability to estimate work and prepare customer proposals.
  • Understanding of critical path analysis and project issues.
  • Experience discussing schedules, costs, and budgets with leadership.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes and supplier evaluation.
  • Ability to produce technical documentation and design documents.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Experience with MS Project, Primavera P6, Power BI, MS Office, AutoCAD, EDMS, Visio, SharePoint, and estimating tools like Accubid or Pro Pricer.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of project budgets and cost codes within finance systems.
  • Understanding of earned value analysis.
  • Proficiency in automated cost and schedule management systems.

Abilities:

  • Ability to work extensively on computer screens and sit for long periods.
  • Reach and finger dexterity for manipulating objects and using a keyboard.
  • Effective listening, speaking, reading, and comprehension skills.
  • Applying rules to solve specific problems and understanding speech.
