Senior Environmental Engineer position with the Virginia Department of Health supervising and leading engineering functions for assigned regional areas related to public water systems. The role involves serving as a subject matter expert, managing project plans, conducting inspections, interpreting regulations, and providing technical assistance to staff and the public while working largely independently.
Key qualifications:- Experience with program and project management principles including grant management
- Working knowledge of engineering principles for drinking water and federal/state drinking water laws and regulations
- Experience making sound engineering decisions and creating technical reports
- Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer in Training (EIT) licensure in Virginia preferred
- Significant work experience related to drinking water construction projects
