As a Senior Tax Associate, you will join our Tax and Financial Planning team in Richmond, VA, reporting to the Tax Manager. Your primary responsibilities involve delivering high quality service to our high-net-worth clients through various tax-related engagements, building enduring client relationships, and supporting our financial‑planning team with comprehensive financial plans tailored to clients’ situations.
Responsibilities- Prepare simple-to-complex individual, trust, gift, and pass‑through entity income tax returns, quarterly and annual income tax estimates, projections, and other related filings for high-net-worth clients.
- Research and analyze complex or atypical tax issues and share recommendations with the tax team and clients.
- Respond to inquiries from the IRS and other taxing authorities on behalf of clients, and assist with gathering information for local, state, and federal tax audits.
- Conduct self-review for accuracy, manage deadlines, participate in client meetings, and communicate work statuses and significant changes with the Tax Administrator and Tax Manager.
- Gather, analyze, and input relevant client information into CRM systems and other platforms.
- Communicate with clients about tax and financial planning engagements, ensuring timely follow‑up and ongoing support.
- Manage multiple tax engagements concurrently to efficiently meet client needs.
- Assist team members in developing financial plans for clients to address their unique needs.
- Stay up‑to‑date and compliant with IRS guidelines and evolving tax laws and regulations.
- Seasonal overtime at certain points in the year, especially during major tax deadline months.
- Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Valid Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
- At least 3 years of experience preparing individual, estate, gift, and trust income tax returns for high-net-worth individuals.
