Job Duties
Provide risk management to complete compliance assessments, internal controls testing and associated reporting. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing professional expertise, consultation, and technical assistance to executive management regarding financial, business, policy, and accountability programs in order to ensure compliance with regulations, laws, policies, procedures, and business operating systems. Tasks include, but are not limited to,
1) independently planning and conducting broad-based program audits and sensitive investigations that may involve leading or coordinating with outside auditors;
2) completing internal controls assessments, identifying remediation activities, developing reports with findings and risk reporting; and
3) conducting tests of key internal controls in areas of funds disbursements, fund receipts and general accounting; and
4) developing tools and supporting systems that support financial compliance, industry standards and best practices.

Conserve and manage wildlife populations and habitat for the benefit of present and future generations.
Connect people to Virginia's outdoors through boating, education, fishing, hunting, trapping, wildlife viewing, and other wildlife-related activities.
Protect people and property by promoting safe outdoor experiences and managing human-wildlife conflicts.
Minimum Qualifications
Working knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and policies for financial audits, risk management and compliance, and ability to operate in conformity with established audit standards, principles, and practices set by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and its International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF). Ability to apply knowledge of generally accepted accounting and auditing principles, best practices, and internal control standards for multiple computer system platform environments.
Familiarity with state and federal financial/grant systems. Ability to evaluate compliance with requirements, to develop and perform audit procedures, analyze data, and plan and conduct audits, surveys, and investigations. Ability to take initiative, absorb information and translate it into concise, well-written content for management and board reporting. Demonstrated ability to work independently and to manage multiple priorities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to timely prepare and present audit and compliance findings, reports, and recommendations that clearly define factual conclusions, both orally and in writing. Ability to prepare reports and narrative findings, to maintain an independent and objective attitude, and to complete special projects. Maintain a current working knowledge of IIA standards and applicable state regulatory provisions. Knowledge shall be attained through periodic standards review, IIA and ISACA chapter events, analysis of changes in state policies, procedures and Virginia Code.
Additional Considerations
A minimum of five years of professional experience in accounting, financial management, auditing, risk management, or closely related field. Professional certification preferred.
Must complete a Statement of Personal Economic Interests on an annual basis per the Code of Virginia § 2.2-3118.2.
