Position: State Director (VA, NC, SC, CT)
Executive Director at National Rifle Association Institute For Legislative Action
Must live within a reasonable commute of Raleigh, NC or Richmond, VA (regional position covering Connecticut, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia). Willingness to travel more than 50%.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Direct all state legislative, political, and lobbying activities for the Association in assigned states.Track and conduct research and analysis on firearms and hunting‑related bills; provide timely reports to NRA.Engage directly in legislative lobbying by establishing and maintaining strong contacts among elected and appointed officials and staff with jurisdiction over relevant issues.Develop and execute overall strategy and messaging in conjunction with Managing Director and other ILA Divisions for designated region or state assignments.Advance Second Amendment legislative efforts in the face of opposition, negative publicity, and media resistance.Coordinate with state affiliate organizations to advance the Association’s legislative agenda and targeted political involvement.Manage and execute political action committee activities in state‑level elections; responsibly, professionally, and positively represent the Association.Mobilize efforts on key legislation affecting Association membership with ILA/Grassroots.Draft legislative and political communications with legislative assistant, aide, and stakeholders.Submit weekly reports on legislative and political matters to the Managing Director and communicate with NRA Board of Director Members as directed.Submit accurate and timely expense reports; demonstrate responsible stewardship of the Association’s financial resources.Required
Education and Experience Bachelor’s (BA/BS) a must.
5 years of successful government affairs experience in a similar capacity.

- Knowledge of and support for the Second Amendment and commitment to preserving the Constitution of the United States.
