Microbiology and Immunology
Laboratory OverviewThe laboratory of Derek Sant'Angelo is in search of a Post-Doctoral to join their lab in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, School of Medicine.
Duties & Responsibilities- Design and perform experiments. Analyze, interpret and discuss experimental data with PI and other members of the lab
- Generate figures, write manuscripts/reviews and help with grant applications
- Help train and mentor junior scientists in the lab
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong research background in immunology, molecular biology (RNA-seq, scRNAseq, ATAC-seq) or a related field
- Experience with genetically engineered mouse models and/or experience working with primary cells, including retroviral transduction
- Evidence of successful completion of a research project (publications)
- Ability to work independently; interpret, present, and discuss experimental data
- Excellent communications skills
- This will be a minimum one-year appointment, contingent upon satisfactory annual reviews
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at VCU
- PhD or MD/PhD (or equivalent) in biological sciences
- Preferred experience in immunology
This is a restricted position with no set end date; continued employment is dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and performance.
