The Department of Neurology has a talented, robust team of more than 70 faculty members spanning nine divisions includes representatives from every neurology subspecialty in adult and child neurology, plus award‑winning educators, clinical and translational neuroscientists and master clinicians.

The mission of the Department of Neurology, the Division of Vascular and Critical Care Neurology is to provide state of the art comprehensive patient centered care for adults with acute neurological disorders, perform translational and clinical research to further understanding of disease mechanisms and develop new treatments, and train the next generation of neurologists and clinical neuroscientists.
Chief Purpose of this positionThis position is an Open Rank (rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications) full-time faculty position in the Division of Vascular and Critical Care Neurology. The faculty member will provide patient care, engage in medical student and neurology resident and fellow education, and participate in clinical research.
Position Responsibilities ClinicalPrimary clinical responsibilities include care of patients in both neurocritical care inpatient and outpatient settings.
TeachingThe faculty member will teach medical students and house staff. They will be expected to participate in a series of formal conferences for the house staff and students. They will attend weekly Grand Rounds and neurological lectures upon occasion as requested.
ResearchThe Division of Vascular and Critical Care Neurology is engaged in clinical and translation research projects. The faculty member will be expected to participate in and, when appropriate, lead, clinical research and clinical trials.
ServiceFaculty member will serve on departmental, School of Medicine, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g. reviewer, conference organizer, etc.
Qualifications- MD or MD/PhD degree (or equivalent)
- BC/BE in Neurology
- Successful completion of a neurology residency at an ACGME accredited institution
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
