Summary:
VCU's Division for Student Engagement & Impact (DSEI) in the Office of the Sr. Vice President for Health Sciences welcomes applications for our P.A.T.H.S. Program Coordinator position.
Department Summary:The Division for Student Engagement & Impact (DSEI) for VCU's health sciences campus is comprised of P.A.T.H.S. (Promoting Access To Health Sciences) and O.S.E. (the Office of Student Engagement), both in alignment with the Office of the Sr. Vice President for Health Sciences.
The division aims to enhance students' overall experiences as they prepare for admissions into and throughout their enrollment in a health sciences program dent success is the primary goal, which we strive to achieve by providing social and academic support, fostering an inclusive learning environment, offering student involvement and leadership opportunities, as well as connecting students with a vast network of professional and community partners across the healthcare landscape.
Duties & Responsibilities:The Program Coordinator will be responsible for supporting programmatic activities associated with the implementation of the VCU P.A.T.H.S. (Promoting Access To Health Sciences) model. This position participates in all aspects of VCU P.A.T.H.S. programming with an emphasis on targeting students from all backgrounds with interests in healthcare professions. Through maintaining ongoing communication with campus and community partners, the Program Coordinator will play a vital role in implementing activities for a range of pathway programs, including but not limited to VCU Acceleration, Summer Academic and Enrichment Program, Allied Health Career Exploration, Healthcare Career Quest, etc.
Activities to be coordinated include networking events, socials, monthly workshops, and healthcare career information fairs for VCU P.A.T.H.S. students.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 2-3 years of experience in student programming and assessment
- Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, and manage student programs; strong project management skills
- Solid written and oral communication skills with a proven ability to communicate with people at various levels of authority, to work collaboratively to achieve program goals
- Strong technical and computer skills with knowledge in Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point
- Ability to travel to recruitment fairs at colleges/universities in the surrounding region
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
- An understanding of current issues and challenges facing secondary and post-secondary students representing all backgrounds and academic interests
$37,000 – $44,300
