The Nurse Manager Support Assistant performs a variety of organization, managerial, administrative and clerical functions in support of the unit and Nurse Manager.

Experience – REQUIREDMinimum of two (2) years of previous clerical work experience using a personal computer and various software applications (e.g. MS Word, MS Excel, etc.).
Experience – PREFERREDPrevious experience in a healthcare setting.
Education/Training – REQUIREDHigh School Diploma or GED.
Education/Training – PREFERREDGraduate of clerical training program or completion of courses related to clerical or administrative functions.
Completion of medical terminology course.
- Perform daily activities with minimal supervision, self‑directed in the accomplishment of routine activities.
- Assess issues that involve violation of VCUHS policy or procedure, conflicts of a sensitive nature, or are considered unusual in nature and bring these to the attention of the Nurse Manager.
- Job duties may include the handling, transportation, access to and/or contact with medications and related supplies.

AdditionalPosition Requirements
Hours would typically be day shift, Monday through Friday, but may occasionally require flexibility in work schedule for special projects.
Physical Requirements- Lifting 50–100 lbs.
- Prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, frequent bending, walking (distance), reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive).
- Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, speaking clearly, writing legibly, reading.
- Fast‑paced environment, steady pace, ability to handle multiple priorities, frequent and intense customer interactions, noisy environment, adaptability to frequent change.
