Ophthalmic Assistant

Location & Compensation

Richmond, VA

Pay From: $21 Per Hour

• 4+ years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician
• COA or COT preferred
• Experience performing ophthalmic exams: slit lamp, visual fields, color vision tests, lensometry, tonometry, keratometry, refractometry
• Rooming patients and obtaining histories
• Scribing for providers
• Assisting with in‑office and surgical procedures
• Handling dilations
• Experience obtaining pre‑authorizations and scheduling appointments

• Room patients
• Obtain medical history
• Check patient visual acuity
• Handle dilations
• Perform various exams: slit lamp, visual fields, color vision tests, lensometry, tonometry, keratometry and refractometry
• Provide photography support
• Assist with in‑office and surgical procedures
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications
• Set up and clean up from procedures
• Perform advanced ophthalmic procedures
• Handle scribing
• Clean and stock rooms
• Prepare instruments for sterilization
• Obtain authorizations
• Handle chart preparation
• Schedule appointments
