The position is a part‑time adjunct faculty appointment on a course‑by‑course, semester basis as needed. The successful candidate will teach a maximum of 12 credits per semester, including day, evening, weekend, off‑campus, or distance education courses.
Responsibilities- Teach developmental and/or college‑level courses in the Pharmacy Technician Program.
- Develop syllabi, assignments, exams, and assessment strategies aligned with program learning outcomes.
- Provide instruction in the classroom, online, and in lab environments.
- Engage students of diverse backgrounds and promote inclusive learning environments.
- Participate in program committee and curriculum development activities.
- Assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Must be a nationally certified pharmacy technician with at least five years of experience performing technician tasks and hold a current, unrestricted registration in Virginia, or a pharmacist with a current and unrestricted license.
- Hold a current, unrestricted registration in Virginia or a pharmacist license.
- Have previous experience in a pharmacy setting.
- Possess expert‑level skills necessary to train future pharmacy technicians.
- Be detail‑oriented, meet set deadlines, and work effectively in a virtual environment using multiple software programs.
- Have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Have the ability to write syllabi and exams, develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments, and work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
- Associate degree in a health‑related field.
- PTCB Certification.
- Five or more years pharmacy technician experience (sterile compounding a plus).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills in both an individual and group setting.
- Ability to work in a virtual environment using multiple software programs simultaneously (MS Office, Canvas, Gmail, Zoom, etc.).
- Pharmacy Technician training experience.
- Community College or training program teaching experience.
- Maximum of 12 credits per semester.
- Day, evening, weekend, off‑campus, or distance education courses.
- Travel to and from campus/site location as assigned.
