We are seeking a highly skilled Infection Preventionist to join our quality team. In this role you will plan, organize, develop, and implement our infection prevention and control program in accordance to current applicable federal, state, and local standards. • Assume shared responsibility for the management of surveillance, prevention, and control of infections hospital wide.
• To ensure that staff are educated on optimal infection prevention and control practices, collaborate and communicate regularly with other departments.
• Develop, implement, and maintain a reporting system for nosocomial infections and communicable diseases.
• Serve as a resource to hospital staff and leadership in infection control and prevention, assisting managers in developing, implementing, and updating infection control standards for their units.
• Maintain cultural and diversity awareness when dealing with hospital staff, leadership, co‑workers, patients, visitors, and other customers.

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Lab, Nursing, Medical Technology, or a related field.
• Attend a basic infection control training course after the first year of employment in this role.
• If a Registered Nurse, licensed or eligible for licensure in Virginia as a Registered Nurse or current multistate compact license.
• If a Medical Technologist, licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Virginia.
• Healthcare related experience.
• Certified in infection control (CIC) preferred.
• Acute care infection prevention experience preferred.
