The VCU Department of Psychiatry is recruiting for a Clinical Research Coordinator position. This position is within the Translational Research on Eating and Affect (TREAT) Lab, directed by Dr. Kelsey Hagan. The role supports the Principal Investigator’s research projects, investigating the neurobiological and psychosocial mechanisms of eating disorders through a neurodevelopmental lens. Current projects employ methods such as fMRI, neurocognitive measures, computational modeling, ambulatory assessment, and clinical interviews to explore mechanisms by which eating pathology develops and is maintained.

Position Responsibilities:

The Clinical Research Coordinator will coordinate clinical research studies involving individuals (adolescents, adults) with eating disorders and other psychological concerns in a compliant and efficient manner. Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), the incumbent will collaborate with all members of the clinical research teams to ensure all federal, state, university, and protocol requirements are followed, institutional research objectives are met, and ethical obligations are upheld.

  • Understanding and adhering to all regulatory and compliance requirements in line with national, local, and institutional guidelines, including appropriate study documentation and records.
  • Maintaining current Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program credentials of Human Subjects Protections, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and Clinical Research Coordinator courses, plus additional certifications as required.
  • Recruiting, screening, and enrolling participants into the PI’s research studies.
  • Coordinating research procedures, including but not limited to administering clinical interviews, ambulatory assessments, neurocognitive measures, and assisting with fMRI scans.
  • Managing, cleaning, and analyzing study data.
  • Assisting with manuscript and grant preparation.
  • Assisting with lab organization and planning.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience working with clinical populations with psychological concerns or evidence of commitment to learning the skills necessary to work with these populations.
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and time management skills.
  • Ability to set priorities, make timely decisions, and meet deadlines while working on multiple projects.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a large and complex organization and in a fast‑paced work environment.
  • Must be able to complete mandatory competencies and certifications required by VCU and VCUHS, individual clinical trials and the NIH Human Subjects Protection training.
  • Willingness to travel to study sites and meeting locations, as applicable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Data Science, or a related discipline.
  • At least 1 year of clinical research experience working with people with eating disorders and/or similar clinical populations.
  • Knowledge of and experience with neuroimaging and/or ambulatory methods and/or analysis.
  • Knowledge of and experience with coding (e.g., through R, Python, Matlab, or another coding language).
  • Knowledge of and experience with statistical analysis and/or computational modeling (e.g., through R, SPSS).

Salary Range: $55,
