Job Title: Junior GIS Developer 2

Interview Type: Web Cam Interview Only
Work Schedule: 5 days per week in the office for the first few weeks for training and then 3 days per week in office.
Job Overview: Junior Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist/Technician to assist the TMPD Planning Data Solutions team in maintaining in-house planning web tool and providing GIS support to transportation planning staff.
The system features data that includes: roadway inventory, traffic projections, and capacity analysis.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collect, manage, and analyze geospatial data from various sources.
- Assist in the creation of detailed maps, charts, and reports using GIS software.
- Perform geospatial data cleaning, manipulation, and quality control to ensure data accuracy.
- Support the integration of spatial data with other datasets to provide insights for projects.
- Evaluate data, tools, and web platforms for quality assurance and to identify errors and improvements.
- Maintain and update GIS databases and documentation.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide GIS-related technical support and training as needed.
- Research and stay updated on GIS tools, technologies, and best practices.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other developers to define and execute solutions for geospatial data visualization and analysis.
Skills:
Required:
- Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS Online data management, map creation, and app building.
- Basic understanding of spatial analysis techniques and cartography principles.
- Familiarity with database management tools and formats (e.g., Oracle databases and/or Postgre
SQL/PostGIS). - Basic knowledge of and experience with linear referencing systems in a GIS and tabular format.
- Basic knowledge in automating geospatial processes using Python, model builder, or other techniques.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with Python and SQL, especially in a GIS environment.
- Familiarity with other programming languages, especially R, HTML, JSON.
