Job Description
An enterprise cloud architect is a senior role responsible for defining and guiding an organization’s overall cloud computing strategy and architecture. They are typically not hands‑on engineers but rather senior leaders who make strategic decisions, direct the cloud architecture function—often a Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE)—and ensure the organization’s cloud initiatives align with its business goals. This role requires a deep understanding of technical areas like networking, data security, and compute, along with strong leadership and strategic planning skills.
Key Responsibilities- Cloud strategy – Define and oversee the organization’s cloud vision ensuring it aligns with business objectives.
- Architecture governance – Lead the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE) to set standards and provide governance for cloud adoption across the organization.
- Strategic decision‑making – Make high‑level architectural decisions about cloud adoption, migration, and optimization.
- Cross‑functional collaboration – Work closely with IT and business units to drive a cohesive and effective cloud strategy.
- Leadership – Serve as a senior leader for cloud initiatives, often guiding a team of cloud engineers and architects.
- Technical expertise – Deep knowledge of networking, VPNs, BGP, SD‑WAN, storage (block, file, object), compute (VMs, containers, serverless) and data (SQL, No
SQL, data lakes). - Security – Understanding of security concepts such as firewalls, zero‑trust architecture, identity federation, and data security.
- Business acumen – Ability to translate business needs into technical strategies and ensure cloud solutions support business goals.
- Leadership and communication – Strong skills to lead teams, collaborate with different departments, and communicate complex ideas clearly.
- Experience – Not an entry‑level role; requires significant experience and a broad range of skills.
The base compensation range for this role in the posted location is:
140K-160K/Year
. Capgemini provides compensation range information in accordance with applicable national, state, provincial, and local pay transparency laws. The base compensation range listed for this position reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation Capgemini, in good faith, believes it may pay for the role at the time of this posting. This range may be subject to change as permitted by law.
The actual compensation offered to any candidate may fall outside of the posted range and will be determined based on multiple factors legally permitted in the applicable jurisdiction. These may include, but are not limited to: geographic location, education and qualifications, certifications and licenses, relevant experience and skills, seniority and performance, market and business consideration, internal pay equity. It is not typical for candidates to be hired at or near the top of the posted compensation range.
In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional compensation such as variable incentives, bonuses, or commissions, depending on the position and applicable laws.
