Sybase Architect

The Sybase Architect will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of Sybase database solutions to support enterprise applications. This role is responsible for developing scalable architectures, ensuring high availability, and driving database migration and modernization initiatives. The architect will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align database strategies with business objectives, implement robust security and compliance measures, and define backup and disaster recovery plans.

Additional responsibilities include performance tuning, automation scripting, and mentoring junior team members. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

• Develop and maintain scalable Sybase database architectures.
• Design logical and physical data models, schemas, and structures.

• Tune Sybase databases for optimal performance and reliability.
• Implement indexing strategies and query optimization.

• Lead migration of Sybase databases to other platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, or cloud).
• Develop data conversion scripts and mapping strategies.
• Nice to have Working knowledge on Linux platform.
• Knowledge on Ansible/Power Shell scripting to support automations.

• Implement robust security measures and access controls.
• Ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory standards.

• Define and implement backup, disaster recovery, and failover strategies.

• Work closely with application teams, DBAs, and business stakeholders.
• Excellent debugging, decision making and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Develop new strategies to increase efficiency, enhance workflow, and improve customer satisfaction
• Responsible for onsite offshore coordination between Business team and Development team
• Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance.

The annual salary for this position is between $73,350 to $116,000 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
