Overview
The Linux Engineering Team Lead will oversee a team of engineers responsible for Linux vulnerability remediation and patch management across enterprise systems. This role requires a strategic leader with deep technical expertise in Linux environments and proven experience managing people and projects. The ideal candidate will combine hands-on technical skills with strong leadership capabilities to ensure secure, stable, and compliant Linux infrastructure.
Ansible automation will be a key tool for streamlining vulnerability remediation and patch management processes, enabling efficient and consistent deployment across environments.
- Lead and mentor a team of Linux engineers, providing guidance on best practices for vulnerability remediation and patch management.
- Develop and implement strategies for Linux system hardening, security compliance, and lifecycle management.
- Monitor and report on vulnerability remediation progress using tools such as Service Now Vulnerability Response and Qualys.
- Oversee patch deployment processes across multiple environments, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum security.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align Linux infrastructure initiatives with organizational goals.
- Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables for Linux-related initiatives.
- Establish and enforce standards for Linux system configuration, automation, and documentation.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex Linux issues and coordinate resolution efforts.
- Drive continuous improvement in automation, monitoring, and operational efficiency.

This position is office-centric 5 days a week in one of our Truist hub locations.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, or Management Information Systems-related field, or equivalent education and related training
- Fifteen to twenty years of progressively responsible leadership experience in technology
- Fifteen to twenty years of experience in technology strategy and/or architectural domains
- Comprehensive experience with various architectural domains such as application, data, infrastructure, security and integration
- Broad understanding of technology, architectural and strategic-planning concepts
- Ability to identify and translate enterprise-level needs into technology plans/business solutions
- Ability to interact effectively with Executive Management
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to think and act strategically
- Substantial experience as a senior-level and effective negotiator (internal and external negotiations)
- Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products
Preferred Qualifications:
- Deep technical experience in Linux environment
- Experience with Ansible automation
- Experience with Service Now Vulnerability Response & Qualys
- Strategic leadership abilities
Job Requirements / Working Conditions

- Visual / Audio / Speaking – Able to access and interpret client information received from the computer and able to hear and speak with individuals in person and on the phone.
- Manual Dexterity / Keyboarding – Able to work standard office equipment, including PC keyboard and mouse, copy/fax machines, and printers.
- Availability – Able to work all hours scheduled, including overtime as directed by manager/supervisor and required by business need.
- Travel – Up to 25%
