Onsite ASL Interpreter – Virginia

Propio Language Services seeks an onsite American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter in the Virginia metro area. The role involves providing consecutive interpretation in person and remotely via phone and video, meeting client protocols and maintaining strict confidentiality.

• Provides consecutive in‑person and virtual interpretation by phone and video.
• Follows interpreter protocols and procedures as required by Propio L.S. clients.
• Follows all Propio L.S. policies and procedures related to information confidentiality and interpreter ethics.
• Maintains strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, FERPA, GLBA and other regulatory requirements or policies and standards.
• Establishes and maintains quality service and positive interaction with patients, customers, visitors, health care providers, and clinical employees.
• Continuously improves vocabulary and specialized subject‑matter knowledge, as required for various clients such as medical, legal, social services, etc.

• Submission of an updated resume.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Intermediate level computer skills.
• Access to reliable transportation.
• Ability to provide documentation of updated vaccinations including TB, MMR, Varicella, Hep B (or declination), TDAP, seasonal influenza, and COVID‑19, as required by location, federal and local regulations, and business policies.
• Successful completion of a drug test and background check & security screen.
• A signed commitment to confidentiality, adherence to ethics, and HIPAA compliance.

• 1+ year of interpreting experience.

• National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC)
• International Medical Interpreters Association (IMIA)
• California Healthcare Interpreters Association (CHIA)
