Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig is looking to hire an associate with approximately three to five years of private practice experience in our Richmond VA office. The position can be a hybrid work schedule after an initial, full time training period in the office.
A strong candidate must first and foremost be a team player who enjoys working with other people on the Richmond team. This is a fast-paced practice that often involves responding to clients in acute situations. The current team takes pride in its work and enjoys solving the challenges our clients raise together.
Separately, a candidate must have a conscientious attitude about his or her work quality, punctuality, and presentation. This position is also for someone to resolve issues for clients with mentorship from a partner. However, the goal for this position in short order is for the candidate to be self-sufficient in solving client problems as soon as feasible. Experience handling projects and cases from initial intake to final resolution, whether those be litigation or corporate in nature is preferred.
Job Responsibilities- Draft and review pleadings, memos, briefs, interrogatories, and other legal correspondence and documents.
- Appear at hearings and trial in both state and federal courts.
- Take and defend depositions.
- Supervise and conduct complex legal research and analysis.
- Collaborate in case strategy discussions.
- Communicate and work with local counsel.
- Contract reviews and redlines.
- Draft and review purchase agreements, operating agreements, shareholder agreements, and other transactional documents.
- Perform day-to-day case management and maintain client files.
- Approximately 3-5 years of experience.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Virginia State Bar admission.
- Ability to work independently or with a team of attorneys to develop case strategies.
- Strong critical thinking, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to excellence.
- Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
