Duties & Responsibilities:
The Empower Manager oversees a multidisciplinary, hospital-community-based violence intervention program. Content areas are sexual, domestic, intimate partner, trafficking, and other interpersonal violence victims. This role supports the university's mission and strategic objectives through the daily administration of Hospital-based Violence Intervention and Prevention programs, which includes the supervision and development of staff and the delivery of program services.
The Manager is responsible for coordinating and implementing multiple components of a comprehensive or specialized program, setting and achieving programmatic goals, and aligning operational strategies with executive and senior leadership directives. Key responsibilities include managing the Empower team, tracking and analyzing client outcomes using the Red Cap system, preparing timely reports for grant providers, and ensuring the delivery of impactful, evidence-based interventions.
This position will have additional supervision over the counseling team, supervising counselors licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia. This position will have additional supervision over the Empower Me + You Youth Violence Prevention Program. There will be additional duties related to Training and Technical Assistance.
This position requires strong leadership, data management, and program development skills to ensure the success and sustainability of educational outreach initiatives. Identify funding.
Core Responsibilities Program Administration and Development- Oversee entire project and all teams. Plan, implement, and coordinate existing and new programs and services for both internal operations and community partners.
- Work with IVPP Leadership on the development and execution of strategic initiatives to meet programmatic goals and objectives.
- Work with IVPP Leadership, SOMRA, and Trauma Leadership to integrate programs internally to hospital processes and externally to community partners.
- Work with IVPP leadership on expansion of program to new areas across state.
- Directly oversee and manage the assigned teams, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and values.
- Supervise and support staff development to maintain a high‑performing, collaborative team environment.
- Host weekly program meetings and individual staff supervision meetings.
- Oversee collection of data, evaluation, pre‑posttest, and reports are accurate and timely data entry by staff in tracking systems and electronic records programs.
- Develop or oversee the preparation of detailed data reports for internal use and external stakeholders.
- Prepare and submit any grant funded reporting requirements on time. Review data, program and activity reporting, and review timesheets for all finance reporting.
- Work with the IVPP leadership and IVPP programs manager on all reporting requirements.
- Work with the Research and Evaluation lab to ensure program evaluations are conducted and in compliance with evaluation best practices. Participate in auditing team program activities and evaluation reviews to ensure best practices are in place.
- Foster and maintain strong collaborative relationships with VCU Health internal teams and external community partners.
- Represent the program at events, client and community support requests, and other organizational needs.
- In tandem with IVPP leadership, develop new partnerships for existing programs and seek out new opportunities.
- Manage equipment, property, and other resources assigned to the unit to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with organizational standards.
- Maintain knowledge of purchasing equipment, reporting structures for grants, and invoicing.
- Participate in presenting program successes at conferences as indicated and available funding.
- In concert with IVPP leadership and Research, write up papers for publication on successes and lessons learned annually. Submit to research publications and journals.
