A Brief OverviewReporting to the President / Vice President of CGL FM, the Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading the Environmental, Health, and Safety programs for CGL Facility Management. The role manages all aspects of safety compliance, including regulations and policies, accident prevention and investigation according to OSHA, DOT, and other federal/state regulations and Company Policy standards. The Safety Manager is directly responsible for all issues involving Environmental/Safety/Health, OSHA compliance, safety training, and the development, implementation, and maintenance of Safety and Health Policies and Procedures for CGL FM facilities.
Whatyou will do
- Serve as primary advisor regarding environmental, safety, and health issues for all management levels throughout the company and advise senior management and the executive team.
- Report all work related incidents (near miss, first aid, and injuries) using the company RMIS system with appropriate documentation and investigations.
- Lead investigations of the most serious incidents, conduct lessons learned (root cause analysis), and make adjustments to affected policies, procedures, and standards.
- Develop a safety near miss and accident reporting program to facilitate discussions and training.
- Establish and promote a safe and healthy work environment ensuring that occupational hazards within our facilities comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Develop, recommend, and implement policies and procedures to control identified hazards and risks associated with facility operations. Communicate and continue to foster a safety culture beyond statutory requirements.
- Assist in the continuous improvement of hazard identification and safety risk assessment schemes in accordance with company policies by evaluating existing practices, procedures, and facilities.
- Conduct site safety audits and inspections, and compile comprehensive reports of findings including correction plans.
- Conduct annual reviews of all safety practices and update documents accordingly.
- Measure the effectiveness of processes and continually improve by developing job-specific safety training and procedures.
- Determine training schedules for all OSHA required training and develop and maintain a tracking system.
- Create and/or modify written OSHA programs within the facilities.
- Manage Workers Compensation injuries, Return to Work and Light Duty Programs in partnership with Corporate Risk Management and Human Resources; conduct accident investigations.
- Coordinate safety activities and training to ensure implementation of safety awareness programs.
- Assess workplace hazards, determine risks and provide solutions efficiently, timely, and cost-effectively.
- Require driving for the Company using either a Company vehicle or a personal/rental vehicle for company business more than 50% of the time to perform duties.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Safety Management, or related field. Required.
- 4-6 years of experience in safety management. Required.
- Experience managing occupational injuries and Workers' Compensation claims. Required.
- Certified Safety Professional. Required.
- Knowledge of OSHA 1904, 1910, 1926 regulations and environmental, health and safety requirements. Required.
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills. Required.
